My Face Book friends are wonderful. With almost 2,500 friends, I fail to keep up with all of them. It is hard to squeeze in time to visit all of their pages. So I love the comments they put on my page. Some are sweet and encouraging. Others cause one to ponder a bit and stretch one’s way of thinking.
On Christmas day I posted: “May the angels wrap you in comfort and joy today. Enjoy all this day has to offer! What is everyone doing to make this day special?
I love getting an insight into the lives of my friends in this manner. I got several comments of people spending time with their loved ones.
I especially liked this one by Cody Lewis in response to “Haha! This day is no more special than the 364 others we are blessed with! Spending time with loved ones is the best gift given or received. Hope this finds you smiling and laughing!”
It was thrilling to me to see how a young man ‘got it’! His words are so true. Many people live all year to get presents for Christmas. They let the stress of over spending and going to all the parties run their life. They forget that this day is simply to celebrate the sun overcoming darkness. This has been celebrated centuries before Jesus arrived on the scene.
We need to take time to think about what is really important. Those of your family and friends that support and love you through good and bad times are to be cherished. But as Cody alluded to…not just on Christmas, but every single day of the year! Be in the NOW of the moment.
Make a commitment to say a word or two each day about someone you cherish. (Love is such an overused word…I like cherish better). Say these words of ‘cherishment’ to them as well as to others within their hearing.
If you do this each day of the year, you will find yourself wrapped in such amazing unconditional love that every day will be Christmas to you!
