How Should You Celebrate?

Holidays can be a time of great stress. This is made worse by people who tell you how you "should" celebrate and what you "should" be celebrating.

When I was more religious, the holiday focus was on Jesus and the miracle of his birth. I've since learned that celebrations have taken place for centuries before the Nativity. Our current "customs" come from a variety of sources, many of them old pagan traditions.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate, just understand that holiday traditions have evolved over time and so no one can be said to celebrate, the right or wrong way.

Still many are adamant and argue that only "traditional" holiday celebrations should be allowed and that we should all accept them as they see fit.

When this happens thank them for their input and continue to celebrate as you see fit. No one can ruin your holiday experience without your permission.

My friend here seems to agree.
