WINTER SOLSTICE

The winter solstice is almost upon us. It is the time for us in the northern hemisphere to mark the longest night and shortest day of the year. This is a time of celebration as the Light of the Sun begins to shine brighter as the days will get longer.

To honor this occurrence many people hang lights and burn candles. In some traditions this time is called the Festival of Lights.

Historically each of the birthdays of Jesus, Horus, Mithras, Attis, Dionysus, and Krishna is celebrated at or 3 days following the winter solstice. Here is a good source for more information about the spiritual connections.

The most important thing to remember is this is a time to shine Light into the dark areas of your soul. Illuminate your heart with joy and love. Focus on what is good and the darkness will have no power.
