Protective Side Of 'Angels'

Angels appear in many forms as people are comfortable. I wrote this Fantasy about dragons, in order to reach those who liked dragons. The dragons in my book have many of the attributes of angels.

There is a strong moral of unconditional love and taking care of the earth that runs throughout the story line. Shhh...don't tell the kids! Lol!

The following is an excerpt. Mary and Oberlin are both shapeshifting dragon/people. Charlie is Mary's human friend that had been captured by an evil regent to trap Mary the dragon/girl.

She flew home to check on Papoose and then she teleported to Oberlin’s home. She wanted to get the details about the tower where Charlie was being held. Oberlin had lived in the area many years ago when humankind was at peace with dragonkind. As a result, he was able to describe it in detail. In order to teleport, she must have exact details of the place she was going to or she could end up with part of herself embedded in a brick wall.

After getting the information, she prepared for her rescue of Charlie. She asked her friend to take human form, so he could tie a stout rope around her neck and stomach in a kind of makeshift harness. That way Charlie would have something to hold onto if he was feeling weak from imprisonment.

As the day ended, the moon began to rise in the sky, and she said her goodbyes to her friend. She took flight with her destination firmly implanted in her mind. In the blink of an eye, she disappeared and then hundreds of miles away appeared again, with her left wing almost touching the rough brick wall of the tower.

As she hovered there, Charlie appeared at the window, crying out, “Hang on Mary, here I come!”

She turned her head with a look of worry on her face. That look was replaced by one of relief as she saw Charlie fling himself from the window ledge onto her back.

“Hold tight to the ropes, little one,” she cried.

She felt Charlie settle himself in and cry out, “Okay, let’s go Mary!”

Just then, she heard men in the distance cry out, “There is the dragon! How did she get there? Quick, call the archers!”

Immediately the air was full of sharp arrows. The few that reached high enough to touch Mary, bounced harmlessly off her dragon hide. She felt only a small prick as if from a pin. The next moment Charlie and Mary disappeared from their sight. The archers stood shaking their heads wondering if what they had seen was due to their overindulgence of ale that night. However, when they searched the tower there was no sign of Charlie.
