Sometimes all you can do is the next thing. I remember stages in my life when I felt very overwhelmed. People would encourage me, saying things like, “Just take it a day at a time.” I remember getting very frustrated as I wondered how I could get through the next hour, let alone the day! The technique I learned through those tough times helps me now during really great times that are just simply overwhelming.
I may have to-do list, but I just focus on the next thing I have to finish. I don’t look at the whole list. I just look at the next task I must accomplish.
So if you are feeling a bit overwhelmed…don’t look at the whole list of what you have to do….just do the next thing and know it will be enough.
